BLM Bureau of Land Management Online Public Domain land purchase database for several states after 1820 (but for Illinois also includes Military Tract purchases from 1817-forward). Dates reflect patent issued date. The Illinois State Archives' database is more comprehensive.
FamilySearch Free 1880 federal census online. Search the Family History Library Catalog for microfilm available on interlibrary loan to the Family History Center near you.
