Remarks: Absent with leave of Furlough dated 30 Aug 1861. --Company Muster Roll: Sep and Oct 1861: Present --Company Muster Rolls beginning Sep 1862 to end show his job as Color Bearer On duty except as follows: Company Muster Rolls Jul through Dec 1864. Absent. Remarks: wounded since July 28, 1864. -- Veteran Volunteer Enlistment: Whiteside, Tennessee dated 1 Jan 1864. George Kerber, born in Darmstadt, Germany, aged 25 years, a farmer when enlisted 1 Jan 1864 as veteran soldier for three years. He signed as George Kerber. Grey eyes, light hair, fair complexion, 6 feet tall. Mustered in 12 Jan 1864. He declared he was 24 years old as of 1 Jan 1864. --Muster and Descriptive Roll of Veteran Volunteers dated 12 Jan 1864, Whiteside Tenn; George Keober [sic] born Prussia Germany, age 25, farmer when enlisted for three years 1 Jan 1864 at Whiteside Tenn. Grey eyes, Lt hair, fair complexion, 6 feet tall. Soldier was due $340.00 to be credited to Centerville, St. Clair Co., Ills. --Casualty Sheet. George Kieber, [sic] Sergt, wounded near Atlanta, Ga 28 July 1864. Source cited as 'Annual Return for 1864, signed Clayton Hale [Lt?] Col. Comdg.' "See Index 19 No 87 Pg 4 shows Geo. Kirber [signed] WSB 7-24-83." --Company Muster Out Roll dated 8 Dec 1865 at New Braunsfels, Texqw showed he had been paid $210 through 30 Apl. 1865; he owed the U.S. 46 cents for clothing; and the U.S. owed him $190.00. He was age 25 at this time.
